Free GST billing software usually comes in three shapes: a time-limited trial, a free plan with a turnover or user cap, or a free invoice quota. FundRaksha Book is the third kind: your first 300 invoices are free with every feature on, then ₹999 a year for unlimited invoices. You can still log in, see invoices, run reports and export data if you do not subscribe.
Three kinds of free
| Type | How it works | Example (own site, 21 October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | All features for a fixed period, then pay | BUSY: try free for 15 days; Vyapar: free trial |
| Capped free plan | Free for ever within a turnover, user or invoice cap | Zoho Books: revenue up to ₹25 lakh a year, 1 user + 1 accountant, up to 1,000 invoices a year |
| Free invoice quota | Full product free until you have made a set number of invoices | FundRaksha Book: first 300 invoices |
None of these is a trick, but they suit different businesses. A shop doing 30 bills a day uses 300 invoices in about ten days, so for that shop the real question is the yearly price after the quota.
What a free GST billing tool must still get right
Free does not relax the law. Whatever you use, the invoice must meet Rule 46 of the CGST Rules: your name, address and GSTIN, a serial number unique for the financial year, date, the buyer's GSTIN if registered, HSN, quantity, taxable value, the rate and amount of CGST and SGST or IGST, and place of supply for inter-state sales. A composition dealer issues a bill of supply under Rule 49.
- Check that the tool picks IGST for a registered buyer in another state.
- Check that HSN prints at least 4 digits (6 if your turnover is above ₹5 crore).
- Check you can export every invoice. If the free plan locks your data, switching later is costly.
You can test any invoice against the tax invoice format, or make a one-off bill with the free GST invoice generator.

FundRaksha Book is free for the first 300 invoices, with every feature switched on and no card needed. Sales and purchase invoices both count. After that, Pro is ₹999 a year for unlimited invoices, paid by UPI, card or net banking; the site says prices include applicable taxes as charged at checkout. See book.fundraksha.com.
Worked example: when does free run out?
A stationery shop in Indore makes about 25 sales bills a day and enters 20 purchase bills a month.
- Per month: 25 × 26 working days = 650 sales invoices, plus 20 purchase invoices = 670.
- The 300 free invoices last about 13 to 14 working days.
- From then, Book costs ₹999 a year, about ₹83 a month, for unlimited invoices.
A very small business, say a tailor doing three bills a day, would take about four months to use the free quota. Either way, the decision is easy to make on real numbers rather than on the word "free".
