LLPIN (Limited Liability Partnership Identification Number) is the unique number the Registrar allots to an LLP on incorporation under the LLP Act, 2008. It is a 7-character code of three letters and four digits, usually written as AAA-1234. Use it on mca.gov.in under MCA Services > Master Data > View Company or LLP Master Data to see the LLP's status, address and designated partners.
LLPIN vs CIN
| LLPIN | CIN | |
|---|---|---|
| Entity | Limited liability partnership | Company |
| Length | 7 characters (e.g. AAB-1234) | 21 characters |
| Encodes | Only a serial identifier | Listing, industry, state, year, type, serial |
| Law | LLP Act, 2008 | Companies Act, 2013 |
| People | Partners and designated partners | Directors and shareholders |
If a buyer calls itself "XYZ LLP" but gives you a 21-character number, or calls itself a private limited company but gives a 7-character code, check MCA before you supply. When a firm or company converts into an LLP, the new LLP gets an LLPIN and the old entity's record is updated.
Where to find an LLPIN
- The LLP's certificate of incorporation, letterhead or invoices
- Its website, agreements or tender documents

Why the LLPIN matters to a supplier
An LLP is a separate legal person. Your invoice, ledger confirmation and any notice must name the LLP exactly, ideally with its LLPIN, so the record shows which entity owes you. Partners sometimes run several LLPs and firms with similar names; an LLPIN on the purchase order removes the confusion.
When recovering, the LLP is sued in its registered name, at its registered office, and for a bounced cheque the partners in charge may be named under Section 141. An LLP whose status is "under process of striking off" needs urgent action: see under process of striking off. FundRaksha Legal checks the LLP record and sends the notice within 24 hours.
