Short answer

To check company details on MCA, open mca.gov.in, go to MCA Services > Master Data > View Company or LLP Master Data, enter the CIN or LLPIN or start typing the name, fill the captcha and submit. The page shows the company's legal name, CIN, ROC, status, registered office, capital, incorporation date, last AGM and balance sheet dates, directors with DIN and the index of charges. Viewing is free; document copies cost extra.

Step by step

  1. Open mca.gov.in in a browser.
  2. From the top menu choose MCA Services, then Master Data, then View Company or LLP Master Data.
  3. Type the CIN or LLPIN, or begin typing the company name and select the correct entity from the suggestions. Check the CIN shown with each suggestion; similar names are common.
  4. Enter the captcha and click Submit.
  5. Read the company information section, then open the directors or signatory details and the charges sections.
  6. Print or save the page as PDF with the date. Keep it with your customer file.

If you need the DIN details of a director, use View Director Master Data from the same menu. See director master data.

A supplier's checklist

  • Name on MCA matches the legal name on the GSTIN (verify the GSTIN on FundRaksha Trust)
  • Status is active, not under process of striking off, dormant or in liquidation
  • Last balance sheet filed within a reasonable time, not several years ago
  • The person ordering from you is a listed director or authorised signatory, or has written authority
  • Registered office: note it for notices, even if the buyer operates elsewhere
  • Charges: understand how much of the company is pledged to banks

Using the record when payment is overdue

When a buyer stops paying, the MCA record decides three things in the notice: the exact party (company name and CIN), the address (registered office plus business address), and the persons in charge (directors relevant under Section 141 if a cheque is involved). It also tells you how urgent things are: a status change to under process of striking off means you must object to the Registrar quickly.
