Short answer

In Chhattisgarh the employer deducts ₹15 per employee every six months and adds ₹45, for employees on the register on 30 June and 31 December, and pays before 15 July and 15 January (section 9). The employer's share for a half-year must be at least ₹1,500, which matters for small units. Factories and establishments with 10 or more persons are covered.

LWF contribution in Chhattisgarh

The contribution is fixed by section 9 of the Chhattisgarh Shram Kalyan Nidhi Adhiniyam, 1982 and Niyam, 1984.

Who paysAmount per employeePeriod

State Government (paid separately)Equal to the employer shareEvery six months

Section 9(2)(a) as revised by notification F 10-1/2011/16 dated 21 March 2012, the latest revision in the official compilation on the Labour Department portal.

When to deduct and pay

  • Deduct only from June and December wages (section 9(4)).
  • Pay before 15 July and 15 January (section 9(3)).

Who is covered

  • Every factory (section 2(5)).
  • Establishments employing 10 or more persons on any day in the preceding 12 months (notification of 4 May 1995, carried into the Chhattisgarh Rules compilation).

Not covered: Persons employed mainly in a managerial or administrative capacity, and supervisors above the wage limit in section 2(3). Published guides quote a ₹10,000 limit; we did not find an official amendment, so check the current figure.

Late payment, interest and where to pay

After a demand notice of at least 30 days, simple interest of 1.5% a month for the first three months and 2% a month after that (section 10).

Register and pay on shramevjayate.cg.gov.in under the Shram Kalyan Mandal service. The old cglabour.nic.in site no longer works.

Worked example

A Raipur steel fabrication factory has 3 workers on the register on 31 December 2026. Factories are covered at any size.

What we could not confirm

Not found on an official source on 21 October 2026, so not stated as fact here:

  • Current supervisor wage limit in section 2(3)

Keep LWF in the same payroll run as PF and ESI

LWF is small, but it is a separate deduction with its own dates, and it is the one most often forgotten. FundRaksha HR runs payroll with PF, ESI and professional tax, and lets you add LWF as a fixed deduction in the months your State collects it, so payslips show it correctly. Check the other deductions with the PF calculator and ESI calculator, and see every State on the labour welfare fund by state page.
